Tire chain laws vary by state and region across the U.S. Here’s when it’s legal to use chains and studded tires in both North and South Dakota.
Tire chains are not mandatory in North Dakota, but they are permitted for safe driving in treacherous winter conditions. The state wants drivers to only use them when absolutely necessary.
